Getting Started

What is a school yearbook?

A school yearbook is a printed keepsake that brings together pupils or students, photographs, messages and memories from their time at school. Wave Ed provides yearbooks for UK primary and secondary schools, with dedicated packages for different budgets and requirements.

Which year groups are school yearbooks suitable for?

Wave Ed provides dedicated options for primary and secondary schools, including Year 6, Year 11 and Year 13 leavers. The appropriate format and package depends on the size of the year group and the type of book required.

How do you organise a school yearbook?

A school yearbook project normally begins by choosing a package and design, deciding what student-profile information to collect and gathering profiles, photographs and additional content. Wave Ed then designs the book under its managed packages, sends a digital proof for checking and produces the approved yearbook

1. Choose package → 2. Choose design → 3. Collect content → 4. Submit content → 5. Proof → 6. Approve → 7. Print

Do we have to design our own yearbook?

No. Wave Ed provides yearbook design as part of its standard managed packages. For secondary schools that prefer to create the artwork themselves, a separate DIY yearbook option is also available

What information should we collect for a school yearbook?

The information required depends on the yearbook package, but student profiles, photographs, introductions and feature content are common elements. Secondary packages can also include staff messages, awards and personal messages, while the primary package includes dedicated headteacher and class-teacher pages

What should we decide before starting our yearbook?

☐ Which yearbook package would suit you best?
☐ Number of students
☐ Approximate order quantity
☐ Softback or hardback where applicable
☐ Design style
☐ Student profile questions
☐ Photographs
☐ Staff/headteacher messages
☐ Feature pages
☐ Who will coordinate the project?

Once all these options have been considered and answered we would be able to get the ball rolling!
